Masters Degree Portfolio
Of Grace Blackwell, Composer & Music Designer
CREATURE - Short Film
Working on Creature had it’s challenges, I had 3 days to complete the score and produce the master file. However with this time constraint came the liberty to do as I please with the score; the director gave me (almost) complete creative freedom with the score. The director had originally hinted at wanting a typical ‘horror’ sounding score, after providing a demo of the main theme the director loved the direction I was exploring, and thus landed a 80’s synth horror score.
DON’T RUN - Short Film
This version of Don’t Run is not the final picture lock of the director’s cut. The original file for Don’t Run’s audio had many issues. The sound editors placed the audio and my score so that it clipped and distorted throughout the film. In this version I have provided, I mixed my score in myself to be able to show my music in the best possible light for this portfolio. Because of this I do not have access to the end credits, nor the picture lock that has the title card.
The soundscape I wanted for Don’t Run was to be intimate, emotional and personal; opting for chamber strings and synth.
FALLEN ECHO - Videogame, Music Design & Implementation, Trailer
I composed all the music and designed the interactive music systems for Fallen Echo using the Wwise-Unity pipeline, and composed the music for the Fallen Echo trailer. The link to download and play Fallen Echo :

DIABLO IV - Cinematic Trailer
With the recent release of Diablo IV, one of the first trailers released was this cinematic trailer. After watching it and loving the trailer concept I thought this would give me the opportunity to show my scoring skills across many genres; Synth hybrid, Mickey Moussing and epic orchestra. I intended to score as though Foley, sound design and the dialogue would also be part of the film, so made room for those aspects. I also have included subtitles to help provide context for the plot.
ADDICTUS - Short Film Scene
Additcus is still in post production, however, I was invited to score the final scene which is ready to be shown on this portfolio. Addictus is a film following a young adult whose drug addiction is becoming uncontrollable. This final scene is a drug deal gone wrong, including an escaped convict, a corrupt police officer and the young addict.
